IMDB rating: 4.30

Plot: EPA agent Jack Taggart is Stunned to hear from his boss Phil Pratt that his best friend and fellow agent Frank Elkins has been found dead in Kentucky after Frank’s truck plunged into a river. The Kentucky State Police believes that it was an accident, but the EPA believes it was no accident. It all began with an anonymous letter from the small town of Jackson, Kentucky. Frank was sent to Jackson to investigate what the letter described as some kind of pollution that is causing fish to die and causing people to get sick enough to die. Frank sent back water and soil samples that all tested off the charts for toxic substances. After Frank discovered that the Hanner Coal Company, owned by Orin Hanner Sr., is being paid to dump toxic waste into an abandoned coal mine shaft, Frank ended up dead. Jack is assigned to go to Jackson, where his contact will be Reverend Bob Goodall, who runs a church in Jackson. After arriving in Jackson, Jack finds out that he’ll be staying in a room in the church’s basement, and as Jack’s contact, of course Bob knows that Jack will be going undercover as a carpenter. Jack begins by repairing the roof at a house where he meets Henry Carr, his wife, and his kids Edie, Alberta, Christine, and Walter. Walter is sick because of the pollution. That night, Hanner’s son Orin Hanner Jr., also known as Junior, spies on the church along with corrupt Sheriff Lloyd, who is on Hanner’s payroll. On the next day, when Jack goes into downtown Jackson, he meets Betsy Hamill and her twin sister Patsy Hamill. Jack then walks down the street and introduces himself to Cotton Harry. Then Jack takes some water samples. At church on Sunday, Bob introduces Jack to everyone, and tells everyone that Jack is a carpenter. During lunchtime at the church, Jack introduces himself to Sarah Kellogg, a local outcast who is a beekeeper. Sarah has a brother named Earl. Jack goes to Sarah’s house and offers to repair the steps on her front porch. Over time, Jack comes to believe that something is bothering Sarah, and it’s something dark. Jack wants to save her from whatever it is, while trying to bring Hanner and his crew down.

what do you think of my narrative essay?
it was for english, its kinda long, constructive criticism please, or bash i don’t really care. ill compare your feedback to my mark . tell me what you think
note: i tried to be historically accurate XD

explosions thundered off in the distance lighting up the sky followed by sporatic rifle fire. It was dusk now. Sevastian crawled carefully through the bramble of bristly, jagged branches. The year was 1943, The Germans operation to eliminate the threat of the Soviet Union had all but failed. Spread out too thin over a wide front against the will and determination of the Soviets. The Soviet Union was now on the offensive and pushing deep into German occupied territory. Sevastian had enlisted and trained to be a sniper in the infantry, he had spent the past 16 year hunting, and had considered himself adept and qaulified for the position. So far his career was going well and had earned many kills. Earlier that day his company of infantry and 2 other tank sqauds had assaulted the city of Poltava, Ukrain. They had been unsuccesful and much of the company was either killed or seperated, Sevastian was no exception. He had never found himself alone in the wilderness before and he knew a German counterattack would be inevitable and chances are they would find him along the way. Quietly moving through the forest grasping his rifle, he was alert and ready to fire if needed. The metal on the bolt of his Mosin-Nagant rifle was cold on his hands, winter was only a month away.

The wind began to sway the trees restlessly and his trench coat was whipping around his legs. Night was fast approaching. He arrived at the bottom of a jagged mountain with a visible peak. He figured he could hide there till either the Soviets attacked with second wave or until the Germans follow through with a counterattack, or atleast to help figure out where he is. Sevastian slung his rifle on his back and began to climb. He was tired and was beginning to to lose awareness of his surroundings. About halfway up he went to grab onto a rock and it slowing slid out of position and seemed to leap down to the ground below. Sevastian fell to a ledge 2 meters below, he felt a thick pain in his left shoulder and came to the conclusion that he could finish scaling the mountain. Thats when he realised the two sentries scouting thoroughly through the forest. he was clearly visible on the ledge he was sitting on and knew they would find him if he tried to climb down and escape. Sevastian chambered a bullet into his rifle with precision. He peered through the iron sights and took time to line them perfectly, in his mind he knew when the trigger was pulled one of the scouts would be instantly killed.

The night had gotten windier, still he was sure of his aim. Sevastian lightly squeezed the trigger, the sound echoed over the forest. Sevastian saw one scout on the ground rolling in pain and the other had dissapeared, he was searching for him. He then began to realize how much trouble he really was in. The scout screaming and the gun shot would have been enough to alert others in the area. He heard someone below him. The other scout was examining the mountain he was on. Sevastian studied the distance to the ground. His plan was to land on the scout. If he landed right with his bayonet knife in hand he could kill the scout. Sevastian rolled off the cliff landing exactly where he wanted to. The scout was stunned and supprised that a Soviet soldier had jumped on him. Sevastian quickly raised his knife hand and plunged it the Germans neck. The man was terrified and grabbed out to Sevastian gasping for air. Sevastian stared at him in disbelief never had he seen hand to hand combat and now he was witnessing a man who only wished to live, seeing his eyes pleading. He couldn’t take it anymore. Sevastian ripped the knife out of his neck and the scout died. the other scout was still rolling in pain and Sevastian went to investigate him. The man was turning pale. He knew he should kill him now but he couldn’t risk another gunshot. He would have to use his knife again. He couldn’t do it and he couldn’t leave him there to die. Sevastian ripped off a sleeve from his trench coat and rapped it around the leg wound of the scout. He lifted him up and began carrying him. He could see in the mans eyes that he was fading but he had to atleast make an effort to save him, he couldn’t watch someone die again knowing he was responsible.

After 2 hours of wondering he found a town that had been liberated by the Soviets. He left the scout on the outskirts and ran in to get medical supplies. When he returned he found that the scout he had tried to escape but failed he had fallen asleep meters away from his original position. Sevastian woke him up patched his leg and gave him to sticks he found for him to use as crutches. While in the town he learned of a massive Soviet attack planned for Poltava in the morning. He gave the man a map and showed him where they were, he told them t

Excellent essay. Well written. Has a few problems that you can probably solve rather easily.

First, I was about halfway through your essay before i could figure out which side your POV character was on. Maybe I am dense (maybe?) but you could make this clear a little earlier. Sorry, his name did not help me.

Second, you have a few run-on sentences and sentence fragments. Try reading your essay aloud — bet you will see them quickly and fix them just as quickly.

Spelling — I hate to say it, but pls use a spell checker.

Otherwise, this is an excellent essay. I saw what your POV character was seeing, felt what he was feeling. Well done! You should get a good mark on this – you earned it.

somebody help me please!!!?
ok so i had my period on dec 15th ended on the 20th and on the 25th i started spotting it only lasted a few hours it was light pink in color. now today i woke up and i am spotting again only its brown, i have been sick to my stomach and very tired, anybody have any clue what this could be?? I have had unprotected sex with my partner and he came in me 3 times! any answers help and would be great!!

ps period is due around feb 15th and i have taken 3 tests all negative
im sorry i ment jan 15th and ended the 20th and had spotting 5 days later in january sooo sorry for the misunderstanding

i guess youll jus have to wait and see if you miss that period… and if so, test.
they are prob all negative bc i believe its too early to take a preg test.
fashionflirt_09 | Feb 01, 2010

Your question is a little confusing. You had your period on Dec 15th and on the 25th you started spotting…the 25th of December or January??? Did you have a period in January? Maybe you should get a blood test done.
Megs *1st Baby Due 2/25/10* | Feb 01, 2010

Did you have a period in January as you have only mentioned periods in December and that you are due again Feb 15th?

If you are regularly 28 days and did have a period in Jan, I would assume that this would have started around 17 Jan, meaning if you had unprotected sex last week then you could very well be pregnant and the spotting you are having could be implantation bleeding.

However if you didn’t have a period in Jan and since you have returned 3 negative test results I would say your spotting is an irregular period.

Sorry, there are a lot of variables in this one. Best to wait until Feb 15th and take another test.
Laura B | Feb 01, 2010

If your periods are due on 15 feb then u are taking the test too early .Best will be if u take the test on 15th feb
Best of luck and

Does this exerpt from my story sound okay so far?
Once again, I’m not trying to publish it or anything. I just like critique. It is about a teenage girl who is a champion ice skater. She falls in love while her parents and sisters lives are falling apart.

—-

I first stepped foot in the skating rink when I was five. Mom and Dad were still real close back then, and for their sixth anniversary, they thought skating would be the perfect date. They packed Melody and me up in the car, stuffed the first aid kit in the trunk, and in less than an hour, we had arrived. I remember thinking it was the biggest building I ever saw, and when we went into the arena, I remember feeling my jaw drop. The giant, frozen rink was bigger than my whole neighborhood I thought, and it was completely empty. We were the first guests to arrive.
My parents rented skates for my sister and me, and we laced up to go out on the ice. The first sliding step I took, I fell flat on my butt, and even little Mel tells me she can remember how badly I howled. But then Dad picked me up and held me in his arms, and the once hockey player let me fly as he skated. The air burst past me as I jetted forward, and the frosty ground reached my fingertips, pulling me in. When Dad finally set me free on the ice, I could do it. I wobbled, and held onto the side, but I managed to skate in circles for hours. From that moment on, I was addicted.
I started attending classes and practices every day. My feet were iced each night from the blisters. I became best friends with the Band Aid company, and I spent ten years getting me to the level that would bring me fame. All I had to do was continue working hard, and I’d be there in no time, an Olympic champion. I could see it all mapped out in front of me everywhere I went. During study sessions with my tutor, I could feel my legs begging to be set free. My knees lured me away from classes when I had time to attend. I was in love with skating, and I had little time for trivial matters. Silly things like friends were not an option for me. I had competition. I had goals to meet. I was driven and accessable whenever my skating coach needed me. She was the best of the best, and I was not going to disappoint.
My parents took out loan after loan to pay for my choice in life. They assumed it would eventually come back when I won the national competition. They had full, complete faith in my abilities. It was my sister who always saw through me.
It would be late at night, and I would curl up next to her on the couch for a movie. My legs would be sore; my feet might be bleeding. My eyes would droop shut and then she would nudge me.
"Wake up Mads," she’d roll her eyes as I stared blankly at her, wondering why she’d chosen to ruin my few seconds of well-needed sleep. Then I’d sit up straight and watch the movie with her. It’s safe to say she was my only friend, my closest relative. I could tell her anything, and even if I didn’t say it, she’d know by the look in my eye. Her blue eyes would flicker knowingly, and she’d either smile or cry or hug me tightly depending on the situation. She supported my dream, and attended my ever recital and competition. However, she had a life of her own. She was in middle school, and I was a sophomore. And she had no ambition to give up her life like I’d surrendered my own.
I suppose that’s why the night of the accident, I felt so guilty. I was driving home from skating practice, this huge smile on my face. I had just gotten placed as our club’s lead skater, and I was more than excited to go home and share the news, show my parents my new dress, and spend hours bragging. When my ringtone blasted into the cold winter air, I jumped. Nobody ever called me this late at night.
I remember feeling that cold sweat triggering itself on my forehead as I whispered the greeting, "Hey Mom, what’s up?"
I could hear a strong cry in the background, and only later did I realize it was my father. His deep voice was erasing the calm and replacing it with distress. My mother gasped ont he other line, and then she whispered, "It’s your sister. She was in a car accident. Laura’s mom," She blew her nose. "went off the side of the road and into a ditch. They hit a pole. Another car hit them from the side." She was sobbing now.
"Mom, is-is Melody okay? She’s okay right?"
"Madison, she’s not good. The doctor said she has to stay in the hospital a while. She might never be the same again. She hit her head on the window, and she didn’t have her seatbelt on so she flew forward. I can’t believe Laura’s mom could-"
"Is Laura okay?"
My mom didn’t respond. The line went dead, and I made the turn to the hospital.

Being honest, the idea is good, but something about your writing makes it a little dull.
It might be because I don’t really like ‘athletic’ characters or that kind of book, but it’s just not that interesting.
But that’s only one viewpoint.
Happy Writing.
They do not travel on horses, but pretend they do and have their servants bang coconuts to make the sound of horse’s hooves. Through satire of certain events in history (witch trials, the black plague) they find Camelot, but after literally a quick song and dance they decide that they do not want to go there.
What do you think Bram Stoker's Dracula about? Do you think that it is based on any of his experiences?
Please don’t say that the book is about evil if you are saying this because you think anything doing with vampires is evil. I have read the book, I am just curious about other people’s opinions. Also when I said based on his experiences I mean like he based the book off of someone he knew with the human vampirism disease.
What I mean by experiences is like if he based the book off of someone with a disease to where they have the hunger to drink blood. I know the disease is real because my uncle Jerith has the disease & I saw "Human Vampires" on a discovery channel called "The History of Vampires". Also Please do not say that the book is about evil if you think anything refrencing Vampires is evil.

Supposedly the personality (domineering, magnetic) of Dracula himself was part based on Henry Irving the famous actor manager for whom Stoker worked.
No he actually based his story on the legends and stories that originated in Eastern Europe. However, if you want to look below the surface, he does use the vampire legend as an analogy for human sexuality and the reactions/opinions of it during the time he lived. Read the book again and look at how Lucy and Mina are portrayed in their reactions to Dracula.
I don’t know too much about Bram Stoker. I do know he modeled the character after Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia also known as Vlad the impaler, even though Stoker had never met the man. I also know it is, at its basic, a love story.
I really enjoyed reading that book. And yes, he did base some of it off Vlad the Impaler who was a terrible ruler long before Stoker was even born. In fact, one of Vlad’s fortresses is still in existence and was recently featured on an episode of Ghost Hunters International.
There is no such thing as the "human vampirism disease".
Dracula is a horror novel about a vampire named Count Dracula who leaves his native Transylvania (modern-day Romania, in southeastern Europe) to immigrate to England.
