Speed RacerSpeed Racer (2008)

IMDB rating: 6.60

Plot: Hurtling down the track, careening around, over and through the competition, Speed Racer is a natural behind the wheel. Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized-the legendary Rex Racer – whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer, the designer of Speed’s thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company’s maniacal owner but uncovers a terrible secret-some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won’t drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line. The only way for Speed to save his family’s business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie, Speed teams with his one-time rival-the mysterious Racer X – to win the race that had taken his brother’s life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

Many movie were made example disney, DC comics, Marval comics, and Pixar. Most of the character are not drawn like the Japanese style. My favorite American animations are Titan AE, Final Fantasy, and iron giant.

I think the new(ish) Eureka Seven movie would have a good chance in American theaters.

The only actual anime that I would consider good that has been made by U.S. is Avatar. Bear with me here, while this isn’t number one of a top ten list good, it is a good step in the right direction in my opinion. There were definitely a few peeves on my part but overall i enjoyed the series very much. Not sure if Avatar will make any lasting impression in the U.S. and expand the market any but hey it’s the first actual American created anime.(not sure if it’s considered anime but who cares lol)

I guess in time a good anime movie will be made in America. Not all DC or Marvel comics/cartoons translated to movie version were successful, and an anime to movie translation in the US maybe a risky undertaking, but I have high hopes. Maybe the Neon Genesis Evangelion movie made in the US will be a big hit. We can only hope for the best.
